This review was written by Marie for a uest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog35 StarsI ve been reading this series since the beginning and I can honestly say that while it was wonderful to revisit the charming town of Cricket Creek Kentucky and all of its inhabitants this book didn t pack the usual punch that Ms McLane is accustomed to deliveringI enjoyed the pairing of Sophia and Avery They had Ratscalibur good chemistry and were fun exciting characters However the story as to how their ro Cricket Creek 10 Had It Read It 2016 If the Cricket Creek books were a food they d be a potato chip There is nothing nutritionally redeeming about them and in fact you are aware that there are things about them that are actively bad for you You know you probably shouldn t like them as much as you do and yet when you reach the bottom of the bag you re like what Did I really eat them all But I want These books are pureuilty pleasure fare and they don t take place in anything remotely resembling the real world There is absolutely no diversity of any kind Cricket Creek is the whitest most able bodied straightest and most nominally Christian town anywhere in the world Every female character sounds the same and every male character sounds the same except for one transplant from England who speaks in hilariously stilted British slang The dialogue can border on roan worthy and I always have to flip past the explicit parts If I were rating these books based purely on uality they would never clear a two star ratingAnd yet I can t help but be sad that the next book in the series is the last one that s available right now because frankly there aren t many romance authors out there writing with LuAnn McLane s comic chops Her knack for making physical comedy come alive on the page is "What Keeps Me Reading "keeps me reading s like a rom com in book format and sometimes that s exactly what the doctor ordered OK read didn t like the story lines as much as in the rest of the series maybe because it kept alternating between two couples who were so similar she could have just had one set Sometimes bad reviews are the most fun to write Other times it just makes me well sad And this is one of those times This was a book that just didn t work for me on any level I felt that the potential was there but it just never materializedI should start with a uick disclaimer I didn t realize when I agreed to read this book that it was the 10th in a series Because of that I felt like the action had started long before the first page and that I was missing out on some character development If I had read the earlier the books this might not have been an issue So even though the lack of character development irked me it is the one thing I m willing to ive a passI did have moderately high expectations for this book one thing I m willing to The Selected Poems give a passI did have moderately high expectations for this simply the set up was intriguing There are two thingsoing on One is a the two people pretend to fall in love for show only to fall in love in reality It sounds dorky but it is pretty common in romance novels and it does tend to work for me The other part of it is a A Shark Never Sleeps: Wheeling and Dealing with the NFL's Most Ruthless Agent good old fashioned love triangle I hate to admit it but I m a sucker for those The problem is that the book really isn t either of these things The characters are already in love with each other at the beginning which eliminates pretty much all romantic tension The love triangle such as it is is a case of a jealous third partyThere are actually two love stories here which isodd I couldn t uite figure out where McLane wasoing with that but it came off as if she had two stories neither of which were strong enough on their own to support a book so she put the two of them together Instead of creating one complete book it just felt unfinished and I wasn t able to My Jihad: The True Story of An American Mujahid's Amazing Journey from Usama Bin Laden's Training Camps to Counterterrorism with the FBI and CIA get emotionally involved in either storyI was problems with McLane s writing For one thing she spends far time telling than showing Iet it there are times when you just have to tell but those should be few and far between Here it is the bulk of the narrative All that does is keep a wall between the reader and the story which prevents the reader from forming any sort of emotional attachments to. A little lie leads to delicious complications in the latest Cricket Creek romance from the USA Today bestselling author of Written in the Stars  Heartbroken handyman Avery Dean can’t et away from his ex who just happens to be the maid of honor in his sister’s upcoming wedding As the best man Ave. Wish Upon a Wedding Cricket Creek #10Wish upon a Wedding but Was A Bit Frustrated a bit frustrated only skimmed the surface of Avery and Sophia s relationship Even with this disappointment I m still looking forward to the next Cricket Creek novel FTC Disclosure I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review Upon a WeddingCricket Creek Book 10By LuAnn McLaneISBN 9781101989807Brought to you by Guest Reviewer BettySynopsisA little lie leads to delicious complications in the latest Cricket Creek romance from the USA Today bestselling author of Written in the StarsHeartbroken handyman Avery Dean can t et away from his ex who just happens to be the maid of honor in his sister s upcoming wedding As the best man Avery has to Nine Ghosts grin and bear his sister s misguided attempts toet them back together until the perfect excuse presents itself in a pretty out of townerWith her time in Cricket Creek Kentucky coming to an end hair stylist Sophia Gordon can t deny the town s charms or her attraction to Avery Dean That s why she finds herself saying yes to dinner and then a wedding dateSophia agrees to be Avery s pretend Las Maravillosas Obras de Dios: Historias Bblicas Para La Familia girlfriend until the big day is over but when their make believe fling shows signs of real passion Sophia starts to wonder if staying in Cricket Creek could make all her wishes come trueReviewForget wondering if a certain individual will move back to Cricket Creek Kentucky After reading Wish Upon a Wedding I want to move to Cricket Creek Ms McLane has created a delightful small town containing a wide range of interestingly named businesses including From this Moment Walking on Sunshine Wine and Diner Flower Power Sully s Tavern and Broomstick Brewery Who wouldn t love to live in a town with such interesting shops and restaurantsThe town also contains an area called Wedding Row and one of the main characters of the story Sophia Gordon is presented an opportunity to open a business in partnership with her hairdresser sassy Carrie Ann Spencer owner of the hair salon A Cut Above This new business is the brainchild of Carrie Ann and would be another wonderfully named wedding beauty salon White Lace and PromisesThis story is much than a simple will they or won t they love story about the sweet big cityirl Sophia falling for a the handsome as sin Avery Dean a local repair man with a whiskey smooth voice Hello Avery This is also a story of late in life love developing between two older people whose past family life experiences have prevented them from developing long term relationships in past I loved and was drawn to the struggles Carrie Ann and her love interest Easton Fisher experienced and enjoyed following them on their journey as they come to realize that past family circumstances should not prevent them from falling in love and committing to a long term The ride is bumpy be and enjoyable one to follow along withThe author deftly weaves both couples stories together and keeps the reader interested I was very keen to discover how Sophia and Avery would be able to et past the infidelity Avery experienced in his previous relationship as well as uncomfortable encounters they had with Avery s ex fiancee I was also rooting for Carrie Ann and Easton to be able to put the past behind them and find true loveI am looking forward to stories from Cricket Creek as I feel there are plenty left to tell and I d love to continue reading them I continue to enjoy this series makes me wish I could move to Cricket Creek Wonderful characters with rich emotional lives I would enjoy a little conflictsuspenseintensity of some kind to spice things up a little This book was sweet As with the 9 other books in the Cricket Creek series there is a secondary romance developing with an older couple I have just two small complaints "that kept me from iving a 5 star rating First I wish there "kept me from The New Song: For the Sunday School, Societies of Christian Endeavor, and Other Religious Exercises (Classic Reprint) giving a 5 star rating First I wish there story with our main Hh sadly the secondary story felt as if it could have been the main And second Ashley the btch of the story should haveotten her comeuppance She Riding Hard got away with too damn much I am looking forward to the next in the series coming in Decembe. That’s why she finds herself saying yes to dinner and then a wedding date   Sophia agrees to be Avery’s pretendirlfriend until the big day is over but when their make believe fling shows signs of real passion Sophia starts to wonder if staying in Cricket Creek could make all her wishes come tr. The characters There were also long passages to catch up the readers on what apparently happened in the first 9 books of the series which did nothing than to take up space because most of the characters did not even play a part in this bookThe characters were another problem for me they were all so well perfect I don t think any of them had any flaws except Ashley the third corner in the triangle who was all flaws No one had any depth at all and none were believableThis problem was amplified by the dialogue None of the characters had an individual voice So if I picked up the book in the midst of a section of dialogue I d have no idea what characters were speaking The male characters Avery and Easton were not even very male I don t want to say they were exactly feminine but they definitely came across like female characters than male I can t even tell you how many passages there were of these two men dissecting their feelings Don t Arabian Challenge get me wrong men talking about feelings is aood thing but what is presented here is just plain unrealisticFinally I felt the text needed a few run throughs with editors and copy editors I wouldn t say that it was littered with rammatical errors but there were enough for it to be noticeable There was also just some messy issues that should never have made it to print One example it was near the end of the book so it is fresh in my mind took place when two characters were chatting in a hot tub At one point the jets come onwhich is find We then have a few paragraphs of dialogue which again had its own issueand then we re told again that the jets come on which just happened a few paragraphs before This is the sort of thing that be "CORRECTED BEFORE BOOK MAKES IT "before the book makes it printI really wish this book had worked for me The premise had reat promise but I think the story may have been doomed from the startI received an electronic copy of this book in return for an honest review I received no other compensation for this post I have chosen to read this book because I wanted to read about Avery and Sophia s relationship Despite it being the main story "I ENDED UP READING ABOUT HIS UNCLE EASTON AND "ended up reading about his Uncle Easton and Ann who was supposed to be the secondary story I felt like Avery and Sophia s story was not bought out to the full potential It was not a bad book but I honestly want of Sophia and Avery My review cross posted from Wit and Sin to the lovely small town of Cricket Creek Kentucky with Wish upon a Wedding LuAnn McLane s tenth Cricket Creek novel doesn t lack charm but it also doesn t meet its full potentialSophia and Avery make an adorable couple They both obviously like one another but between Sophia not wanting to open herself up and face potential rejection and Avery having been burned by love once before the two have been constantly dancing around each other A pretend relationship that should put a stop to Avery s sister s attempts to Der Verlorene Koffer: A Graded Reader for Beginning Students get Avery back with his ex is the much needed push for Sophia and Avery to realize their attraction is mutual Fake relationships becoming real is a fun romance trope I always enjoy and I was looking forward to seeing how it worked out in this book Unfortunately I felt like Ms McLane fell into the trap of telling instead of showing To me there was very little on page development for Sophia and Avery and this was such a pity for they hadood chemistry and their love story could have been excellentAll of the Cricket Creek novels that I ve read have featured a secondary romance and Wish upon a Wedding is no exception Avery s uncle Easton and Sophia s friend Carrie Ann are an endearing couple with a far realized storyline than the supposed primary couple of the tale Despite the book s blurb Carrie Ann and Easton seemed like the main couple of this book and theirs was a delightful love story with the message that it s never too late to face your fears take a risk and find your own happily ever after Wish upon a Wedding is a case of missed opportunity but that doesn t mean it s a bad book I still liked it as fluffy entertainment but this really wasn t the strong installment of the Cricket Creek series I really wanted to love. Ry has to ILLERAMMA Kathalu grin and bear his sister’s misguided attempts toet them back together until the perfect excuse presents itself in a pretty out of towner   With her time in Cricket Creek Kentucky coming to an end hair stylist Sophia Gordon can’t deny the town’s charms or her attraction to Avery Dean.
